Is it possible to have Cuts and Carpal Tunnel? 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago
I had surgery for my Carpal Tunnel in August and I'm still having pain, I had severe pain in my elbow before my surgery and now my hand is tingly again and the thumb side of my hand is tingly,I have poor hand strength (last tested was 50% strenght) and my elbow is really sore, where my whole arm is achy and it really hurts to move my arm.
I have been going to physio since September and he mentioned something about a problem with my ulnar nerve and I may had a dual crushed nerve.
When I saw the surgeon 2 weeks after my surgery I complained about my elbow pain and he said it's not related to my CTS, So is it possible that I had both CTS and Cubital Tunnel.

I see the surgeon again December 11th.

I just had surgery for both carpal tunnel and CuTS. And I am greatly improved. Yes it is possible to have both. And there could also be problems all the way up you arm to your neck. There are a lot of places that the nerves can get pinch or irritated. There are three main nerves in you arms. The ulnar, median and radial nerve and there could be problems with any of these anywhere along your arm. The most common being CTS. The ulnar nerve leads to your pinky and ring finger. The median leads to the thumb, pointer and middle.
http://www.netterimages.com/image/10463.htm is web site I found that shows what each nerve is responsible for.
Good luck at your next Dr's visit.

Judging from other posts and my own experience, I think it is very common to have both CuTS and Carpal. There are other areas besides the Carpal Tunnel that cause the hand weakness and middle finger to thumb tingling. I had some compression of the median nerve near my elbow. I ended up with three incisions: one for Carpal Release, one for Pronator release (median nerve at the elbow) and one for the Cubital Tunnel. I am 11 days post op, so it is too early to tell how much good it did. From what I understood in my heavily drugged state after the surgery, my median nerve at the Carpal Tunnel was the least compressed of the three.

Take a look at this link: http://www.simmonsortho.com/literature/highmediannerve/highmediannerve.html

It is a good article on the topic.

Best of luck
