Anybody had surgery with GOOD results?” 8 Months ago
Has anybody that has already had the surgery had GOOD results? (Ulnar Nerve Transposition)?

I am supposed to go for this surgery next week and after reading all of the down's to the surgery, I don't know if I am willing to get it done and have no relief. My problem is the extreme pain, let alone the numbness in pinky and ring finger. I have extreme pain in my elbows and cannot even sleep on my sides anymore as the nerve feels pinched when I do so. I toss and turn all night. Sometimes I wrap my elbows but obviously cannot keep them wrapped all day. I cannot lift things like I could before this all came about. My fear is that I have nerve entrapment in my shoulders as the pain I have seems to stem from there. But, what type of doctor can diagnose that? The hand specialist I go to only does arms and hands, not into the back and neck area. I have seen a chiropractor but he cannot even tell me if I have nerve entrapment in my shoulder/neck area.

I hate feeling confused about this whole Cubital Tunnel Syndrome thing. Any feedback would be WONDERFUL!!!

I had the surgery 1 year ago. It worked well, however I have had some symptoms reappear. However I fell that their reappearance is a result of my tricolomania (I pull my eye brows and can't stop), when I'm pulling my elbow is bent along with my wrist.

Hi runtpacket,

From what I've read on the Web, cubital tunnel surgery is not 100% effective, and symptoms may reappear if you return to the activity that caused you pain in the first place.

Thanks for commenting!

I would agree with that. I was very happy with the results of my surgery. Recovery was way easier than I expected. I just need to break my Tric habit so I can fully recover.

With the results I had from Surgery I would do it again. I had burning/elec funny bone feeling thru my ring and pinky and forarm. They have not returned and I can deal with the minor numbness.

Yes, immediately. Day after surgery I could feel my rign finger more and today starting to feel my pinky. I had complete numbness for 3 months, first incident was 8 months ago for which I did PT but it the problem came back.

The incision is very long -- like 10 inches, so a tad frightening but use and non-atrophy of my hand are far inferior to external cosmetics. Picture attached when Dr took off brace at 1st post-op appointment.

Had surgery May 9 2008 (today May 20, 2008) at Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC by Dr. Lana Kang (I would recommend her).

Similar to Zedcat, my ring finger (a tiny bit of electrical tender) is better. My piggy is slow to come back, but on the average, the nerve "heals" itself at a rate of 1mm a day. Tomorrow I hit the end of week 4 since surgery (elbow, hand and fingers), and today after playing a lot with my putty, I can feel in my piggy from my knuckle to my first joint. I look at it this way, my hand is bunches better than prior to surgery. After 4 weeks off for this surgery, I am allowed to go back to work via the light duty side of the house for 6 weeks to start. I am a law enforcement Officer, so being in a hands on, aggressive job, my surgeon is more conservative to say the least. If I were to develop this in the left arm, I would go through the surgery again. I am NOT 100%, but the level I am at even now, is TONS better than before surgery. Believe it or not (based on some of the forums) I did look at disability retirement if the surgery didn't fix this. Fortunately, that visited topic will not be needed, as the status, ability of my hand is better than before surgery, thus JOB not at risk anymore.
