Cubital tunnel syndrome is a serious medical affliction that requires attention from a specialist who has direct experience treating cubital tunnel. Do not rely solely on this website, any other website, or your family doctor. Please see a hand doctor or surgeon, and get a second opinion if you have any doubts.
I had cubital tunnel decompression transposition surgery about 6 years ago with fine results. In the past several months though I have been experiencing increasing pain, weakness and numbness in the elbow, hand and pinkie & ring fingers. Had a Nerve Test performed and it shows moderate ulnar syndrome. Went to the ortho today and he says that basically I have 2 choices: live with it or have surgery again. But he stressed that surgery would be very unlikely to help me. He feels that it is scar tissue and it is very difficult surgery that could result in total loss of hand use! This is a workmans comp case which further complicates matters. Should I get a 2nd opinion? Is this a normal response to this situation? Thanks for any responses.
