The glides/stretches say that you are supposed to stop when you experience pain or your symptoms (numbness for example).

But my question is what does that mean? Does that mean stop doing them all together for the day?

Or does it mean when you reach that point in your glide, that you are supposed to stop and then do the next one.

Or does it mean you are supposed to stop at that point and hold for the 10 seconds or less and then continue the next one.

I almost wonder if my not knowing when to stop is causing even more symptoms.

This from my husband the physical therapist...

The person would want to stop once they reach a point of moderate to severe pain with the nerve stretches. Mild symptoms is ok but they shouldn't be pushing into severe pain which is an indicator of continued nerve irritation. Some pain has to be expected with the activities and the patient would want to continue doing the activities daily because the purpose of the nerve glides activities is to keep the soft tissue from adhering down and scarring up causing another impingement syndrome. Hope I answered all questions.

dang that just confuses me more. what do you mean by stop?????

also, so if your pinkies are going totally numb after doing 2 stretches, you are supposed to keep going all the way with them until you hit 10?

i never experience pain.

oh these are so confusing. i started holding the stretch part way through once i get numb and it helped me not be so numb all day.
