I was never given anything or recommended anything for my pain and numbness
I was told that conservative treatment would not help me

My doctor had me on 4 Advil 4X/day, but then that wouldn't do it anymore, the pain was too much.

Then I tried Darvocet N100's for a while, and those really helped cut through the pain. I could still feel the pain and nerve "weirdness" somewhat but it didn't bother me as much. They made me a little light headed and sleepy, but nothing I couldn't handle, and I was able to work while on them (as a matter of fact, I couldn't work when I wasn't taking something for the pain). Highly recommended!

Pre-surgery, I was taking anti-inflammatories (I forget the name of the first, then I did Lodine). When that was unsuccessful, I had the first surgery, which resulted in nerve damage and something called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS/RSD). For two months post-surgery, I was on extra strength vicodin, but obviously couldn't stay on that long-term and it wasn't helping with the pain at all. I was put on a very high dose of an anti-seizure med that also calms nerves (Neurontin/gabapentin) which helped some with the pain. I was also on as needed painkillers (Ultram/tramadol), first the normal, then extended release. For a time, we also switched to a different drug instead of the Neurontin (Lyrica/pregabalin), but it made me gain weight, so I switched back. I've also been on nortriptyline, Cymbalta, amitriptyline, and Topamax. Most of them didn't help, the topamax had some nasty side effects. I also was prescribed Lidoderm patches to help with sensitivity.

I have started to show increasingly severe signs of CuTS in my right arm, but we are trying to avoid surgery as long as possible because of the negative outcome of the first surgery and the possibility of spread of the CRPS. Other than splinting, I'm also applying a topical NSAID (Voltaren Gel) four times a day. It does help, but it is only temporary relief, about an hour to an hour and a half. I would consider this the most helpful thing I've tried so far as far as the CuTS goes.
