Hi all, please answer this:

What painkillers have you used

for your cubital tunnel syndrome?

And how well did each work?

Specifically I am interested in longer-term pain medication used for conservative treatment before or awhile after surgery, and not the strong narcotics taken immediately after surgery.

Thank you!

Hi Timm - I used a variety of anti inflammatory drugs - all prescribed but they just upset my stomach - I have since reverted back to using my tens machine and the occasional 600 mg Ibuprofen.

The drugs prescribed after my surgery two weeks ago made me feel very strange so, again, I am not taking anything now!

Hope this helps!

Hi Tim,

There is NO such a drug ! ! !

As my grandpa was once told, there is NO drug to reduce the pain caused by an organ, nerve or bone.

Pain killers impair your brain that's all, it really does NOT take away any Pain.
When the brain is impaired one usually sleeps, that's pretty much it.

And drugs for inflamation do NOT work either for cubital tunnel.
Inflamition drugs help muscles, nasal passages and so on, NOT nerves ! ! !

Hope this helps your survey
God Bless
Phyllis

Are you talking about pain meds long after surgery or just afterwards?

This is right up my cubital tunnel. I'm the one on major drugs thru the pain management clinic and having had the big guns, Oxycodone 10 mg 2x/day and Hydromorphone 4mg every 4 hrs. of which I only now take 2 before I go to therapy. PT is amazed that I seem perfectly normal, no drooling and said she could not do what she is doing to me if it weren't for the meds. Surgery was Mar 25th, I don't think I would need these for the SubQ, it's more for the elbow ROM because the muscles/tendons in the back of my upper arm have shortened and it is excruciating to get these going again. I worry about getting off this stuff and how long I have to take them as this is going very slowly. This medication does not effect my nerve at all. That aches and zings in spite of all I'm on.

Good question, I should've been more clear. I'm talking about painkillers for conservative treatment, either before surgery or awhile after it. I'm not really interested in short-term narcotics immediately after surgery. I'm trying to determine if any pain medication seems to work better than others for conservative treatment of CuTS.
