New here, not feeling optomistic. Suggestions? 1 Year, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi, my names joe, and i just joined this forum. Never had so much trouble typing before the last 4 days!
Noticed about 4 days ago that baby finger, and inside of ring finger are numb. Constantly, not intermittently. A little bit Clumbsy too. Baby finger curls in slightly as a natural state too. NO pain though.
Saw my GP today and he ruled out stroke, diabetes, and at least got me to investigate the elbow as a source. I made an appt to see a nuerologist asap (3 weeks earliest)and then came home to do some research. I match every symptom to a tee, however there is no pain. That said, the symptoms are constant.
I plan on sleeping with a towel wrapped around my arm tonight, and doing my best to keep my arm relaxed.

How screwed am I? Seems to have happened overnight, and has hit severe stage immediately.

I have never had this problem before, though i am a very heavy sleeper, etc.

Any feedback is appreciated.

thanks,

joe

Sounds like you had what I had. It came overnight.

For me it went away after about 7 weeks. More info and soluitons here.

www.cubital-tunnel.com/cms/Treatment/355...glin-in-fingers.html

Go to wallgreens and get this.

www.walgreens.com/store/catalog/Braces-a...=prod6002627-product

Works much better then a towel.

Dont wrap it too tight around your elbow, it will leave some fancy marks that make you look like a tribes member.

Hopefully you will have what I have, it will go away.

Good luck

Hi Joe, welcome to the site. Not a doctor, but it sure sounds like you have cubital tunnel syndrome (CuTS). It's good that you made an appointment with a neurologist. Make sure he/she has experience with CuTS, and if not, find a doctor who does.

The important thing is to find what's causing your CuTS. Sleeping on bent elbows is a common cause, and you may not realize you're doing it since you're a heavy sleeper. Do you ever wake up with your elbows bent? Using a towel or brace to keep your arm relatively straight at night is important (but you don't want your arm locked straight, as that will cause a whole other set of problems on your joints).

Good luck, and please stop back and let us know how your appointment went.

Hi Joe,
I am in exactly the same situation as you, and after research not feeling too optimistic either. I have gone for "Directed pressure point technique" and will do a couple more sessions. Sleeping with a splint and resting has not improved anything. I also have EXACTLY the same symptoms as you. Please let me know how it is going with you, and i will do the same. I dont want surgery, but I also dont want to lose the use of my hand! Please update your condition!
Good luck,
Verna
