Howdy Gang!!
While I won't have the "written" report until tomorrow, my Neuro gave me a "brief" after my upper extremity, upper spine NCV/EMG. Basically my fusions in my neck "have failed" (major surgery coming for that), and the kicker? While a bit of the Ulnar motor nerve is affected from my neck, (dammmnnnn) it is "entrapped" badly again in my elbow! My prior surgery for this elbow was a subcutaneous transposition. I am guessing step 2 will be a sub-muscular transposition for a revision surgery?
I have my surgical consult with my Neurosurgeon next Thursday - this was/is to decide on my cervical and lumbar spine issues and fixes. Once I know where that stands, I will get back with my Ortho Surgeon EMG in tow and see what he thinks. This finding was a complete surprise to me and the neuro as all were almost certain it was from my level failing below my fusion. Sigh... More to come fellows CUTS lovers! (facetious okay?)

AWW Brenda,
I'm so sorry to hear about your emg results. That really sucks. At least you know from experience that given time, CuTS symptoms can get a little better after surgery. As for revision for a sub-q, I guess sub-musc would be the next step. maybe you can coordinate with your spine surgery.
You are such an asset to this site and I know I appreciate all your experience and common sense advice. Your upbeat attitude and voice of reason has really helped me through the CuTS experience. Thanks and hang in there, girl!

Greetings Chris!!
Thanks so much for your kind and supportive words...got me blushing a bit too! *hug* Thanks!!
It's funny, the last time I had this surgery, *I* did actually have it set up in case the issues were still there after my fusion - they were of course as the level fused was 2 levels above where the Ulner is controlled! So, long story short, out of the hard collar, and blasted off to my SubQ 3 weeks later! Once I meet with my Neurosurgeon and know what the flavor of the week is going to be, might do just that again! I've already got most of the diagnostic tests done my Ortho-surgeon would have ordered. Saves him a few steps I figure!
Not sure Chris if I can "pre-plan" like the last time if I have to go through a spinal revision. A lot is involved, multi level, front and back entry and hardware front and back - messy - long recovery. Come the end of next week, I should have an idea what my plan "A, B, C, or D" will be.
Oh by the way, you all do know we never have scars from these surgeries right? Noppers...they are "human improvement marks!!!" Have a pain free week all! *hug* Thank YOU ALL as well for your support and advice as well!!!

Wow, doesn't look like you should go to Vegas anytime soon. But seriously, that really sucks Brenda. I can't imagine having to go through that much grief. Keep the faith though and know that everything happens for a reason. You should be pretty much bionic here soon.

Greetings Chad,
Well I got the written report, and I was not expecting what was on it - err part of it that is. First off, nowhere in the report did they identify that the Ulnar was trapped at the elbow! All of the issues were cited from the "C5-8" nerve roots which translates into C4/5 C5/6 C6/7 C7/T1 - with moderate evidence of "decreased motor unit amplitude, moderately polyphasic potentials, diminished recruitment, and moderate to "very" decreased interference patterns." Okay, in basics the levels I listed above have now affected the use and strength of my right arm and hand between 50 and 75%! Okay, still not a huge surprise to me believe it or not. The problems by the way showing at the C5/6 C6/7 - confirms my fusions failed!
The surprise part. "THE EMG FINDINGS ARE SUGGESTIVE OF UPPER MOTOR NEURON LESION IN THE C5-8 DISTRIBUTION." The "reduced recruitment patterns throughout (not fully sure what that means) is evidence of "chronic denervation." I did some digging on the Internet, and REALLY didn't like what I found about this lesion stuff. No cure, degenerative and can be fatal - dandy! My Neurosurgeon is big on looking things over and making his own diagnosis of tests. I'll tell ya what, if he even hints that this might be real, I will DEMAND a new EMG with another Neurologist. Sorry, I don't see these things not only forming, but forming over such an area in such a short time!
I see my surgeon tomorrow afternoon, so I will (err..should) know more then. Needless to say, *this* latest development does NOT thrill me at all! More to come ya'll, thanks for listening.
Timm, sorry if this is off topic, the EMG was suppose to check my neck again, but too confirm the "re-entrapment" of the Ulnar at the elbow.
