Question about doctors? 1 Year, 11 Months ago

I was wondering what kind of doctor I should see to see if what I have is Cubital Tunnel. I am almost 100% sure it is but I have put off seeing anyone but now I am in constant pain and getting very weak.
I started having pain in my right pinky about 2 years ago. I actually thought it was just from being on the computer so much or possibly early arthritis. Well the pain would last for a few weeks and then go away and that cycle had continued until a few months ago. For about 3 months now the pain and numbness has become constant and getting worse. A few weeks ago pain in my elbow started and I get shooting pains down my forearm. My pinky and ring finger feel crippled because they are starting to curl in and movement is getting hard. It never occurred to me there might be something wrong with my nerve but I tried the elbow flexion today and my hand only turns halfway and then starts shaking. I have tried a couple times and it is impossible to turn my hand upwards when my elbow is straight. Also if I pinch my thumb to pinky, my pinky doesn't straighten like the other one does.
So reading the symptoms I realize I do need to see someone but who? Is a neurologist or orthopedic hand surgeon better? Any insight would be great. Thanks.

You need to see a hand specialist. The sooner the better to avoid permanent damage. I had surgery two week ago. My ulnar was severely compressed and my fingers were just starting to curl. My advice is don't wait...calll a hand specialist now!

Howdy Jane, and Welcome to the Site!!!
You should look at a "Hand specialist, or a Orthopedic Specialist" for what you are describing. Can a Neurologist help, sure, but since Cubital is more "known" now, the hand or ortho is the way to go. Like the previous poster stated, you really (due to the clawing) don't want to wait. I had clawing, and they had to cut the A-1 pulleys under the fingers to release them in the end! Thankfully that was the "trick", as my fingers are good now.
Please keep us posted on how you do and what you decide. Take care, and again Welcome to the site!!!
