Hi! I'm glad I found this site. I have cuTs in both elbows and had surgery on my right ulnar nerve last Tuesday. Will be having surgery on my left 3/16/10. I am still in the restrictive dressing awaiting my follow up appointment tomorrow. I have had discomfort in varying degrees most of which I believe is because of this protective padding/restraint or if I am not careful how or where I rest my arm.I do occasionally get a weird tingling feeling where I believe my incision is located. Am looking forward, even if temporarily,to not being locked in a 45 degree bend in my arm.

Thank heavens I found my surgeon when I did. I am so ticked at my Primary care physician. He would still be treating me with cortisone shots and telling me I have "golfers elbow" if I had not pushed for a referral (I received 3 shots in each elbow over a year+). I'm praying that I will achieve significant recovery even though my surgeon told me that "if not the worst, one of the worst cases of nerve compression that he has ever had to work on" *sigh*

I'll post again after my appointment tomorrow.
Glad y'all are here

Pam

I too was being treated for tennis elbow by my primary doc with cortisone. She said the popping was just my tendon snapping over the bone. Wrong! I referred myself to a hand guy. Still haven't had my surgery I feel like I'm jumping into it too fast.

How long did you wait for your surgery?
What did you try before surgery?
Sounds like your doing great minus the restriction. Is that terrible nerve throbbing gone?
Peace Cynthia

Hi Cynthia! I first saw my surgeon just before Christmas - saw the neurologist to get a nerve test on 1/6/10 (thankfully Dr. P doesn't believe in sending his patients to "techs" because he gets more complete and detailed info from a neurologist) - got those results from surgeon on 1/13/10 - got immediately scheduled for surgery to be done on 2/2/10. Once Dr. P told me that I had nerve damage in both ulnars and that surgery was only viable option due to the amount of damage I didn't waste time.
Prior to seeing him I went through a year plus of severe pain- temporary relief from cortisone shots and trying the bands that you strap around your forearm just below the elbow....My Prim doc never even offered PT....

I know it's scary but the thought of having to live with this with no end or hope in sight was scarier.

I wish you hope and strength in your decision!

Hugs,
Pam
