Cubital Tunnel? 2 Years ago

Never knew what Cubital Tunnel was until I googled my symptoms and it sounds just like it.
5 days or so ago I experienced this ache on my hand. It was near where my little and ring finger was, but on the back of the hand. I also had pain in the wrist. This lasted a couple of days.
Then, it sort of shifted up to my elbow and arm and I was having pain around my shoulder blade area. And sometimes a little into the neck.
The pain feels dull, and is always in the same location, on the back of my upper arm.
I can't explain the pain, but today I had this pain around the funny bone area. It feels like the sort of pain you get about a minute after you hit your funny bone. You know ... that dull ache.
I'm a computer programmer. I found the forum from another computer programmer. I also wake up every night (near enough) with dead arms from sleeping funny. Have done all my life. I have to admit, I do lean on my elbows in bed when using the laptop.
It sounds classic to me, symptoms sort of fit. I just wanted to hear from others. I am going to book a doctors appointment.
The pain comes and goes all day.
I've not experienced any tingling. Maybe I am in the early stages. But I'm having that horrible dull ache feeling.
I've looked at images of where the nerve runs and its exact. Only thing I'm not sure about is would I get the pain on my shoulder blade? Is that where the nerve runs through?
Great forum btw.

I am almost certain it is Cubital Tunnel. I've read the forums, the tapping test causes the pain, only slightly but it definatly causes it.
Ive not had the tingling though thats the strange part. Maybe its not *that* bad.
I also tried squeezing the forearm, and biceps, and the pain comes on. It wasnt until I felt the pain in the elbow today that I put it down to the funny bone.

Welcome to the forum. It is a very informative place and there are a lot of people with personal experience with CuTS as well as other aggrevations.
Have you seen a doctor about your symptoms yet? There are other issues that can cause these symptoms. Personally, I have CuTS in my right arm and have had subcutanious transposition surgery to correct CuTS in my left arm. I am currently having issues with my left arm again, but also with my neck. My Orthopedic Surgeon says the neck is probably aggrevating the arms.
Until you see an arm specialist, assuming you haven't already, one of the best things you can do is guard against aggrevating the ulnar. Sleeping with your arm relatively straight helps. Staying away from arm chairs. Avoid driving with your arm at a 90 degree angle for long, using that arm to hold the phone or anything else that puts your arm at a 90 degree or less angle.
Timm, as well as a lot of others, is a wealth of info. Keep us posted.

Hi James and BtCat!
James - Welcome to the site. I've had cubital problems for about 2 years. My first 'issue' was pain in my wrist while using my computer. Next I had really bad forearm ache/pain from wrist to elbow. For me I had the forearm pain on the top and on the underside of the arm. I just figured I had over used the muscles. It took about a year before I started to get pins and needles / loss of sensation. I really had no clue what was going on, I just knew that working on the computer made it worse.
At about the two year period my pain was well defined in the cubital tunnel portion of the elbow with constant numbness in the ring and little finger.
Driving / vibration made it worse. Bending the elbow made it worse. Lifting arm over head made it worse. Squeezing the shoulder blades made it worse.
I'm sure everyone is different, but that is how my symptoms started.
Have you tried a home made elbow brace to wear when you sleep? When do you see your doctor?
BtCat - I'm bilateral cubital as well. I had my right arm subq in Nov. I'm hoping to wait until late this year to have the left one done. No neck issues though. How did you hurt your neck?

The neck is not really a problem, just sometimes slight tenderness just above the collar.
I've noticed tonight that certain positions are making it worse. Still scarey though, not knowing what is going on. I am off to the doctors tomorrow though, I cant stand those places, freak me out pretty bad.
The shoulder issue sort off feels like the muscle around my sholder blade is tense. Again its made worse by certain positions. Right now I have the laptop on my lap, head slouched forward so my back is arched. Not good I know, but I'm trying to figure out in my head what the hell is going on.
I'm hoping either the computer has caused this problem, and it will go away eventually, or its down to how I slept one night ... and again, hoping it will go away.
