leftshoulder and ribs symptoms? 2 Years, 10 Months ago

I have a couple of questions... I have been to an orthepedic specialist twice and each time he spent all of 3 minutes with me before he prescribed treatment. First he gave me a steroid injection for carpal tunnel, the second visit he thought it sounded more like CuTs and gave me a brace. I think CuTs is a better fit, but my symptoms are numbness/tingling ALL the time in my entire hand but the ring and pinky are the most numb, and its radiating all the way up into my shoulder. I'm even having some numbness in my left ribcage under my armpit. My hand is weak, clumsy and my fingers cramp constantly. This just feels more serious than how my dr is treating it. My questions are, can anyone else relate to these symptoms (Started 8 wks ago) and am I seeing the right kind of specialist? should I be seeing a neurologist? Thanks for any input!

It's been a while since I read this (kind of long but packed full of good information) Read, Operative Treatment of Elbow Injuries by Kevin D. Plancher, chapter 12 etc. you can probably find this excerpt on line looking up CuTs or elbow arthrotomy. Found answers to my questions, the good the bad and the ugly. I highly recommend this to anyone with elbow issues. Hope it helps. Jennifaux

It sounds like you are seeing the right kind of doctor but may need to see a different one that can pay more attention to you. Do you have any in your area that deals with arms and shoulders exclusively? I had the tingling and weakness in both of my hands and was diagnosed with both CuTs and CTS.
