Hi all
Quick update - I have EMG testing scheduled for 22nd of April. Pain continues to get be sporadic but not every day like it was in the beginning and everything remians the same.
The weird thing is and I wondering if anyone has experience of this but I've started getting what feels like cold patches on some areas of my body, mainly my right shoulder at the front, my buttocks (just above where your bum crack ends- sorry for the description!) and a small patch on the crown of my head. Its almost like having white hot pokers put on me - not burning in the sense of heat, but cold burning almost. Sometimes I get little random sensations down my upper arms, hands and forearms. I also tend to get a itch on th eback of my hands and wrist and on my right shin.
Could this be lineked to the problems I have been experiencing with the ulnar nerve?
Could a disfunction in this area cause these weird problems elsewhere in the body? I've read about periphial neuropathy, but that seems to be associated with burning and pain, which I dont have (pain that is).
Any ideas?

Allan, I've been trying to look up symptoms you've described too but these so far do not indicate something associated with Ulnar.....could be but so far can't find anything over various parts of the body. Not a doc here, but sometimes one bad nerve makes the sympathetic nerves go wacko. Have had weird responses on that one myself..... Good luck with your investigation. Jennifaux

Hi Allan, I haven't heard of CuTS causing nerve problems in other parts of the body. But as acupuncture has proven, disparate body parts are connected in strange ways. My wife can scratch her elbow and feel it on her rib, for example.
Be sure to mention these other symptoms to your doctor. It's possible there is some other nerve condition that's affecting you. Please stop back and let us know what you find out!

Hi
Thanks for the responses. I've done a lot of searching on other web forums and it seems like a lot of people have similar symptoms but as my luck has it, no definate answer even after a lot of testing has been done.
Causes range from Lymes, MS, fibromyalgia, anxiety and depression and perphial neuropathy. I'm inclined to think it may be one of two things for me and that's anxiety/depression or perphial neuropathy.
In all honesty I've been really down in the dumps since this started - everything was looking well for this year and all of a sudden, due to my own stupidity, I'm hit with this CuTS.
Still - EMG testing next week - I'll see how that goes and what the results are before doing anything more - surgery just doesnt seem like the way to go - I dread the idea of coming out worse than I went in.

Allan, I know the fear you are facing, scrambling to find something-anything that sounds like what you are going thru. I was petrified, never had surgery suddenly faced with lots of scarey doubts and fears. I was all over the place.+ don't like/trust doctors, medical. Major wht coat syndrome. But found myself desperate due to extreme pain and possible loss of function(my fingers were curling and my arm wouldn't bend anymore(due to other than Ulnar) I had no choice or become crippled/disabled.) You sound like early stages with time to address issues. Don't let it go too far as it does not get better on its own, if gone beyond early intervention, i.e. splints, night straightening, changing habits everything you can do to take the stress off. Also, remember, nerve testing as I have found is only as good as the person doing it. My 1st test showed nothing, but symptoms didn't go away so I went to another Dr. who sent me to a guy who does nothing but that and he said I had blockage......go figure. That's why it's so important to find somebody good. Keep looking til you find the right one who answers all your questions and cares about how you feel. And still ask more questions.......here, everywhere. Look up Operative Treatment of Elbow Injuries by Kevin Plancher on line......heavy read but informative. Had alot of anxiety myself.......you're entitled to it...Will be there for your EMG....your friends All of US

Hi Jennifaux
Thank you for your kind words of support and advice - its nice to know that there are people out there who understand and are supportive - thank you.
I saw my Doctor yesterday re the burning/cold patches I have been experiencing randommly and he believes it is a symptom of anxiety which he and I both know I have been suffering with over the last few months, plus i've been prone to it in the past. I looked it up on the net and sure enough those sensations are a symptom of it. A particualry good website was anxietycentre.com. I had considered MS, diabeties,Lymes disease, perphial neuropathy (idiopathic) and as a result of the CuTS but those didnt seem to fit. He said that even when you feel relaxed these symptoms can come on and that its simply 'weird', so for now I am going to try and focus on reducing the anxiety but its hard trying not to be anxious about anxiety!LOL
I'm sorry for sounding so selfish and wimpish - my symptoms are nowhere near as severe as the ones you describe - I still have full dexetrity, strength, no numbness or tingling, just occassional pain and ache in the elbow region and down the outside of the forearm and itching across the wrists. I'm still religiously wearing night splints, taking vitamins and fish oil, doing gentle massage and in the mornings rubbing some tiger balm on my elbows then covering them with medical support bandages for about half of the day and all that seems to be keeping it at bay.
As a dull ache and occassional itching at the wrists is all I have at the minute I'm really not sure if surgery is the way to go particularly when you think of the risk of complications etc.
Here in the UK we may have free medical services (the NHS) but honestly its like a cattle market -shipped in and out and your lucky if you find a specialist who is seriously interested in you and even then you can only dictate which hospital you want to be treated by and not which consultant, so it really is a gamble. Some hospitals dont have good cleanliness rates either and a lot of people tend to come out worse then what they were when they went in due to infection or botched operations.
Anyway - sorry for the long post, but thanks again for your kind words and I'll let you know how the EMG tests went.
