Well I just had CTS and Carpal Tunell Surgey 3 weeks ago. Everything is going great! I feel good starting to use my RT arm again. Small fingers still numb but doc says that Ulnar nerve will gain feeling back slowly. 1mm a day to be exact. So hopefully in 7-9 months I'll notice a difference. The only thing im worried about is bending my elbow. How long till I should be able to bend it. I still cant wash my armpit or eat a sandwhich with both hands. Also If anyone has any questions I'd be glad to offeer my advice.

Howdy Richard,
Recovery depends on a lot of things. Type of surgery, mental attitude, age, how bad it was before the surgery etc. Your attitude seems good based on what I read, so we can probably knock that one out.
What kind of surgery did they perform? How long where you in the brace? How is the incision healing? Are you scheduled for physical therapy?
Sorry to throw so many questions back at you, but they are necessary to give you answers to your questions. There are tons of folks on here that can give insight, we just need a tad more info. Take care.

Hi Richard and Brenda,
Richard - bending the elbow was the hardest task for me to get back after surgery. I'm glad you posted the question because I wasn't sure if it was just me having the issue or if there were others.
I was in pt and with their approval everyday I had a goal to bend it slightly further than the day before. I could straighten my arm very fast after surgery, but it took a looooooonnnnng time for the bending to come back. I'm at 3 months now and I can touch my right thumb to my right shoulder. I still am working on getting the rest of the fingers up there!
I also have pain on the outside part or my elbow / forearm. If I actively flex my wrist back it is excruciating painful. Is this what you feel too? Does anyone else have this issue?
Cindy

Well things are much better! I can now wash my armpit. I was wrapped up for about a week. The Carpal Tunnel brace is now off also. Its seem to be getting more flexible by the day. I'm supposed to see the doc again in a couple weeks so we will see what he thinks. My whole rt arm is kinda stiff/sore but its only been a month. Dont notice any severe pain when I bend my wrist back, it is pretty tight though. What do they have you do in phys therapy? Overall im very happy. WIll be happier if the feeling comes back in my fingers all the way! I will say this whole workers comp thing has been the worst experience of my life! Not sure why we pay a ton of money for them to insure us and then when we need them we get such horrible service...
