I use to have bouts of tendonities for years but now I am having numbness and pain in my fingers and wrist area
Is there any way to avoid surgery ???
I see my family doctor tomorrow and I don't want to have surgery

Welcome Donna, we all know how you feel we've been there. Once you've experienced the numbness ,tingling and pain in your hands it's a pretty good guess that you have Cuts. Get the nerve conduction tests to see how they measure up. If it looks questionable get a referral to a specialist, a good hand Doc , ask around. If surgery is indicated, delaying it could possibly lead to loss of strength in hand, curling or clawing of your ring/pinkie that may cause permanent damage and more pain and suffering. There are various surgery options, some more extensive than others . Not fun but not the worst in the world. Let us know what happens. We've been there.

Hi Donna,
Welcome to the site. There are lots of good stretches, nerve glides, splinting to try to avoid surgery. Most of us on this site have tried them all and ended up with surgery. If you do have cuts and the conservative route helps - well that is just awsume! If not, don't worry about surgery, most of us have found it helpful in varying degrees.
Normally your insurance will want you to try some type of conservative approach before surgery. (Unless you have a severe entrapment).
Let us know how it goes.
Cindy
