I honestly can't say, I am only sharing information that was provided on my EMG report. I have no clue what it is, does or the cause. All the surgeon told me was by having the surgery it could cause RSD symtoms to worsen giving me chronic pain. I really don;t know, I am sure before surgery day I will have a change in heart. Just for the simple fact, the doctor was rushed and it made me feel very uneasy.

Goldie, If you feel that uncomfortable with your Dr. perhaps you should consider a second opinion with a new specialist. My CuTS was very similar to yours, RSD and all and I had the Sub-Q. I had all kinds of complications as mine started with a fractured elbow in Oct, surgery in March and I'm still in therapy and slowly weening off pain medication. And yes, it still hurts. If you want to talk PM me.........Jennifaux

I've never had an injury or trauma either...mine is likely from leaning on my arms at work and in the car and from sleeping with my arms folded up at night. I think some people are more prone to these issues...my family doc says it seems to be more common in women as well.

Well my surgery was set up for Sept 10th, but due to my (WPW) Wolff Parkinsons White syndrome, I had an abnormal EKG, and my cardiologist will not clear me for surgery. I won't know until later next week, what he would like me to do or would like to see before I can go forward with the surgery!

wow that sounds very similar to wthe way mine went. my doc. was very unspecific. i think he tried to not scare me! he almsot wouldnt answer questions. like how long is the scar, recovery, therapy. i also have 2 young children. i really think its different for everyone. my surgery actually turned into 2 and mine was maybe 1-1 1/2 hrs long. i was given a "block" under my clavical so i had a "dead" arm for almost 24 hrs. im not going to lie, it hurt pretty good, but im very pain tolerant. i only took the pain meds cause i had them. yah the scar...i was told about 4 inches. right... mine is 9 inches!!! it is dark adn long and everyone points at it and asks what happened!!! makes for a great bar tale! (like the shark that bit me). i swear mine is uglier than any other pics ive seen. (lucky me).i would say its more uncomfortable than anything. im right handed adn had my right elbow done and i was on my own with my 2 kids. i suggest having someone help. i coulndt pick them up or carry them. couldnt bathe myself, had a really hard time with simple tasks or just coulndt do them. the splint/cast was on for 2 weeks adn it was almost straight. i couldnt feed myself, brush hair, change diapers, ect. what little i could do i had to learn left handed. after the pain and swelling went down it was a little easier. if i would have known how hard and long the recovery was before i did it i would have waited or scheduled for a later time. i was really shocked at how long my recovery was. i couldnt use my arm "normally" again until about 6 months post op. like lifting a full gal. of milk and pouring. so... parts are hard adn parts are easy depending on your lifestyle. hope this gives you a rough idea.
