i only had the ulnar nerve transposition, not the wrist. my tests were normal, but the mri showed neuritis in both elbows and the sonogram showed nerves not stable.
oh, i ment the needle test after transposition....that would scare me...i guess they wont do it once the anatomy is changed.
i am 5 weeks out and just want the hand pain to go away!
i go next wed....will show dr muscle loss and talk the right arm.

5 weeks is still pretty early. In my case, I only saw the atrophy take affect when the swelling went down. The 3 weeks in a splint does affect your muscles and they would get smaller.
I did not have swelling in my forearm and when I got my splint off I could see the atrophy in my forearm muscles right away ( I would get that back with pt). But my hand was still swollen quite a bit and so I only saw the atrophy after the swelling went down.
If your NCS was normal, then I would think that you will get your muscles back with PT.

i was only in a cast for three full days, it was a half cast with wrap and the pain pump and draine wrist splint as well....it came off and then it was just ace for three weeks i started pt a week after surgery. pt still not worried about the hand muscle.
wonder if you know how your surgeon did your subq...mine it in a pulley (SLING) and she made a groove in the muscle.
i see you suspect bilateral....me too, they started about a month or so apart.

developed a subcutaneous flap that is medially based, and with Ethibond sutures, the nerve is sutured into this flap.
I did not know if he developed a groove in my muscle though.
