Gosh, this is the 2nd time I wrote a good progress report followed by a huge setback in my condition.

Right now, I am in intense pain, and if it doesn't quit by next Sunday, I will have set a new record of 17 days with non stop pain.

It almost seems unbelievable that a just a few weeks ago, I was saying how nerve pain wasn't even an issue. Now I have quickly fallen deep in despair, and forgot what it feels like to be pain free.

I really don't understand what caused my sudden downward spiral. My only explanation is I took a road trip and drove over 700 miles. Perhaps my arm in this driving position irritated the nerves greatly. Even more destressing, the pain has been quick significant in both arms.

I told my gf that it felt like hundred sharp needles were being jabbed into the crook of my elbow. Is it normal to thave this kind of pain with CUBTS? On the positive side, no weakness or muscle wasting in my handsa

Aw, Dave, that stinks! I had been so happy to hear you were doing better. I definitely believe things you never expected can lead to major changes in your pain. Paresthesia (the feeling of being stabbed with needles) is a definite sign of CuTS and any type of nerve damage/irritation. I get random needle sensations in my elbow and they can be startling in their intensity. What does your doctor say? Any word on treatment options?

Best of luck to you, really. I hate hearing about anyone experiencing so much pain from CuTS!

Howdy Dave,

Have you called your doctors office about this? It could be that you stressed it with that trip, it could be something gone wrong inside after the surgery....all manner of things. I do know that when there are "flairs", they normally don't last more than about 3-5 days!

I would call your doctor and pretty much tell him what you told us. In the meanwhile, I would try alternating ICE and Heat to see if that helps a bit, resting your arm elevated might help too. Please keep us posted. Take care. I hope you feel better soon!! *HUG*

Unfortunately, yes, it's possible to experience intense pain with CuTS. Everyone has hit their funny bone at one point in their lives, and that searing pain is what CuTS patients can experience on a daily basis.

Sounds like you greatly irritated your ulnar nerve on your long drive. I've experienced similar problems with long drives, though not as painful.

Sometimes all it takes is a single instance to inflame CuTS. A few times my ulnar nerve has jumped over my elbow, resulting in extreme pain for a few days until the nerve settled down again.

Have you scheduled an appointment with your doctor?

Hi ya'll,

I appreciate the replies. I'm in tremendous pain as I write this. Feels like a bear claw clamping down on my entire elbow. Oddly, I feel most of the pain in the inside crook of my elbow now and it gets very sharp when I have to bend it. I literally talk on the phone laying down with my arms straight in the air.

I just made the call to my doctor. I think the next test will be to get the EMG nerve tests done. Through this journey, I've been concrete in my position that I would never go the surgery route, but now I'll do anything to get my life back. I'm so tired of wondering what each day will bring me and treasuring pain free days.

The one encouraging thing I can hold onto right now is I don't have tingling or numbness in the hands and my grip is still normal. I hope this means the ulnar nerve is just irritated, not damaged.

Timm, are you continuing to see improvement in your condition after the surgery?

Well I am scheduled for an EMG test. The pain level went through the roof this weekend, severe enough to bring me to tears and make me sick to my stomach. If that wasn't enough fun, I also got sparkly tingles in my hand which has felt normal for quite some time.

Even worse, I am now in the longest stretch with no pain relief. 3 weeks. April has been my worst month ever. Just baffles me why the pain returned with such intensity. I'm back to wondering if it could be a problem in my neck. It just kills me to think that the one neck adjustment I got from a chiropractor could have triggered this problem that has taken over my life.
