Elbow support?? 1 Year, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi all well I have now got an appointment to be assessed early March but in the meantime my symtoms have progressed in that I am never free of discomfort despite lots of diclofenac but it now seems to be centred in my elbow rather than in my wrist as it was. Ring and little fingers are still tingling as is the back of my hand and the outside of my thumb so I assume this is the radial nerve also playing up. Any pressure in the palm of my hand causes pain and the wrist splint I have been using puts pressure on the outside of it and causes more problems. I have also found that I am getting nerve pain when I drive and the back of my upper arm rests on the seat. Are these normal type symptoms for CUTS and should I perhaps consider and elbow support too?
I am struggling with my job to a degree as I sit at a pc all day, by mid afternoon I cannot use my left hand anymore as it is too uncomfortable keeping my arm bent. Can anyone advise anything?

Hi Misgrover,

Glad you are going in for a check up soon. For your computer job you can try voice activated software and also a foot mouse. Driving is hard. If you have an automatic and a good other arm you can try using the alternate arm.

As far as "is this normal CUTs symptoms", well most of would say yes. But alot of also have multiple things occuring in our arms so it sounds like you too may have a mixture of issues.

You mentioned that you think you may have radial nerve issues. Do you find it painful to actively flex your hand back? For example if your arm is straight down beside your body and then you move your hand up so that the palm is facing the floor- does that hurt about an inch or so below the outside of your elbow on the forearm?

Sorry Misgrover that you have to go thru all this. I have a subluxing ulnar nerve in my left arm and also tendinitis. My symptoms are all the over the place. One minute this hurts and then its something else 10 mins later.

My first bout was 4 months ago and it was crazy painful. My GP diagnosed tendinitis and gave me shots.

Great until mid January and things went crazy again. Battled Tendinitis symptoms and started getting better. But the brace that I was wearing I feel caused my nerve issue to flare up. I was in so much constant pain I thought I would go nuts. Then suddenly nothing. Zero pain. I had surgery schedule for Monday but cancelled it because I haven't had a bit of pain since Friday. Then last night I woke up in so much pain for about a hour. I was fine all day.
So I have no idea what to do. I can't hold my arm any certain way to make it feel better I just keep on adjusting myself.
I believe my CUTs is from sleeping with my arms curled under me. The only thing that seems to have helped is splinting my arm at night. It's not fun but I feel as if my nerve is more calm throughout the day when I splint it at night.
Hang in there.Take lots of breaks with your arm at work, let it hang down by your side for a min or 2. Keep us posted on your situation. Say a prayer and eat ice cream!!!! ( or whatever your poison is. I find a couple of cocktails and hot bath do wonders for me in the evenings)
Peace Cynthia

Hi both

Thanks for your replies. My hand does not hurt to flex (yet!) but my thumb is getting fuzzier and fuzzier and if I knock the back of my hand I go temporarily insane! I have been making a note of my symptoms today to take to he hospital and it's quite a depressing list. I hope I am given a definitive diagnosis and treatment that works or at least makes it more manageable (though I am aware that nerves aren't always good patients and can do the opposite of what you want them to). I have a feeling I'll be told this is just mild at the moment and I will have to get a lot worse before they do anything about it. The pain is moving all over the place today, at the moment I can type but in about 10 mins my left arm will be hanging uslessly by my side! Happy days....
