Howdy China, and Welcome to the site!! My doctor told me the same thing. On the day of surgery I was originally going to get a nerve block for my arm. After a pre-op exam, his concerns remained. I agreed with him to give me general anesthesia so he could do further electrical testing on my forearm after the transposition. I also signed a release to take care of Guyon's if it was deemed entrapped.
As it turned out, I was more entrapped in the hand than the elbow! My nerve was "too close" to the surface of my palm! As a helicopter pilot, I was crushing it further due to the way I held the cyclic stick! Soooo with that all said, your doctor might ask you if you minded being put under so he can test your arm after the elbow is done. Good luck with it, and again welcome to the site!!
